If you are going along, don’t just attend for information that is already freely available on the Internet – that just encourages you to say ‘well that was a waste of my time’ and chances are you’ll be right.

Instead, decide on what you want to get out of the day:

  • Who would you like to meet and why? Could you send an email in advance of the event to see if you can book some time in with them?
  • What information will be presented that you can re-purpose for your own business i.e. for your correspondence to, or meetings with your clients.
  • Who else is attending? What can you learn from them?

You may realise that you aren’t necessarily the right person from your organisation to attend, or you may think a colleague should come along with you to help improve what you take away from it.

Whatever you do, go with an open mind that whilst you’ll hear what you probably already know, you’ll be able to listen to it from a different perspective. And it’s that perspective which should help you come up with some new ideas as to how you can grow your business.

I’ll be there at the London event with Kris who will also be at the Manchester and Birmingham events.
